JIM AND CAROLYN MILGARD FAMILY HOPE CENTER

A recent survey found that adolescent athletic and social activities were at the top of the needs list in Gig Harbor. As a result, plans have been made to build a new community center, known as a HOPE Center. The HOPE Center will utilize land that has been provided by Pierce County and the Peninsula School District, adjacent to the new soccer and all purpose fields. The site is conveniently located next to Gig Harbor High School, Henderson Bay High School and Discovery Elementary School.

HOPE Center — Multi-Tenant Use Facility

A valuable building with many resources goes to waste when a stand alone Boys & Girls Club sits empty through most of the day waiting for kids to get out of school. HOPE Centers are multi-use facilities designed to promote collaboration among non-profit agencies in order to share resources to better serve youth and families in Gig Harbor and the Key Peninsula.

The Boys & Girls Clubs HOPE Center will provide an affordable place for children to go after school and be available for community use during non-club hours.

Expanded services will include a senior center developed into the building plan where meals, health screenings and recreational activities can take place.

Other organizations that provide valuable services will be invited to utilize the center and an effort will be made to provide outreach services to the Key Peninsula, working closely with the school district to identify the areas of need.

In every sense the Boys & Girls Club HOPE Center will provide a service that does not exist to a population that truly needs it.
